Healthy Homemade Cauliflower Crust Pizza Recipe

A healthy homemade pizza doesn't have to mean giving up great taste. This cauliflower crust pizza is a delicious alternative to traditional flour-based pizza. The crust is made with cauliflower and topped with colorful vegetables, making it a wholesome choice for a homemade meal.

Ingredients

For the Cauliflower Crust

  • 2 cups finely grated cauliflower

  • 1 egg

  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • A small pinch of salt

For the Topping

  • ½ cup pizza sauce

  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ¼ cup sliced bell peppers

  • ¼ cup sliced onions

  • ¼ cup sliced tomatoes

  • ¼ cup sweet corn

  • A few sliced black olives

  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano

  • Fresh basil leaves, optional

How to Make Cauliflower Crust Pizza

1. Prepare the Cauliflower

Wash the cauliflower and grate it finely. Cook the grated cauliflower until tender. Allow it to cool, then squeeze out as much excess water as possible using a clean kitchen towel.

Removing excess moisture is important because it helps the crust become firmer when baked.

2. Prepare the Crust Mixture

Place the squeezed cauliflower in a bowl. Add the egg, mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, oregano, black pepper, and salt. Mix everything well until a soft mixture forms.

3. Shape the Crust

Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).

Place the cauliflower mixture on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread and shape it into a round pizza crust about ¼ inch thick.

4. Bake the Crust

Bake for approximately 15–20 minutes, or until the edges become golden and the crust feels firm.

5. Add the Toppings

Remove the crust from the oven and spread pizza sauce evenly over the top. Add mozzarella cheese, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, sweet corn, and olives.

Sprinkle oregano over the toppings.

6. Bake Again

Return the pizza to the oven and bake for another 8–10 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the vegetables are cooked.

Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Helpful Tips

  • Squeeze the cooked cauliflower very well to remove excess water.

  • Don't make the crust too thick, as a thinner crust generally becomes firmer.

  • Use parchment paper to make handling the crust easier.

  • You can customize the toppings with mushrooms, spinach, broccoli, or other vegetables.

  • For a crispier crust, bake the cauliflower base slightly longer before adding the toppings.

  • Let the pizza rest for a few minutes after baking before cutting.
